CHANNILLO
Timmy Tales-The Adventures of a Rescue Pony and His Girl
By Carla Conorino

Series Description:

When Gina Targoff starts sneaking onto the horse ranch down the road from her home to spend time with the golden pony, she has no idea that her wretched life would soon be forever changed.

The lovely Brazilian, Antonia Luzia, who owns and runs Kuhaylah Arabians has a soft spot for horses and teenaged girls in need of nurturing (and will eventually train these girls in more than just horsemanship, when she reveals their true purpose to them).

Timmy the golden, Haflinger pony makes an appearance in all of these stories, but they are really about the girls/young women who come from diverse backgrounds gaining confidence and a sense of self worth as they are mentored by Antonia and work with the beautiful horses at Kuhaylah Arabians.

Gina is the main character in this series and will eventually have her own book. She struggles with being bullied at school and denying her true sexual orientation because her overbearing, bipolar mother has raised her to believe homosexuality is a sin against god. Through friendships formed at Kuhaylah Arabians and gaining confidence and inner strength working with the red stallion, Flame, she will continue to grow and learn to love herself and prepare for her eventual destiny.

A quote from her best friend, Strider Castillo (he is openly gay): “Now you listen Gina. I know you’ve been raised in this holy roller religious bullshit, but this is what I think.  God made me this way, and God doesn’t make mistakes.”

Category/Genre(s): Young Adult, Short Stories, Fantasy, Adult Fiction
Updated: Quarterly
Status: Ongoing

Notes:

All proceeds from “Timmy Tales” will be donated through Channillo Charities to Becky’s Hope Horse Rescue (BHHR), a 501(C)(3) non profit charity dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation and rehoming of abused, neglected and abandoned horses and farm animals.
