Lexi invited Jasper to take a seat and politely inquired if he would like a cup of tea. She did her best to appear calm and collected instead of an emotional wreck. When he accepted her offer and smiled coyly at her, she became even more unsettled.

She took her time in the kitchen to steady her nerves. After returning to the living room, she chose the seat furthest away from him. She inhaled slightly and squeezed her eyes shut for a second to gain courage.

“What do you want from me?”

“I had to see you again. Did you like my gift?”
