deep brown and curious are the eyes of my daughter

through her looking glass is an untouched magical world

of unchartered landscapes and adventure

my little one knows not of the darkness that is our world

her innocence is spellbinding; her heart – open to acceptance

what will become of her, when her tiny feet

meet the pavement of abomination and woe?

will she see past the rolling hills of turmoil and strife,

to the beauty of a new day?

can she overlook the black sparrow and envision a nightingale?

deep brown and curious are the eyes of my daughter

they are ready to view the world for what it could be – not for what it is
