CHANNILLO

They told me all through school, "You should write. You have a gift." It was me who wasn't so sure, so I let it languish. Adult life, marriage, children and their accompanying financial obligations eventually covered over the dream.

Now, in the latter half of things, as life begins to settle down, and the obligations grow fewer, I find myself with time. I decided around 2012  to make a serious run at what my teachers always told me. I find what was covered over has not only sprouted, but bloomed, and is in need of pruning, and care. I also feel that, being seasoned by life has given me more to say, and made me a more profound observer than I might have been starting earlier. Though words and ideas  are now irretrievably lost from that time, the principles remain: right and wrong, good and evil, innocence and perversion, kindness and greed, all humanly beautiful and terrible.

So far, the response has been mostly positive, though I realize the liking or disliking of an artist's style is ever a subjective thing.

That being said (or written, as it turns out), I hope you like what's here. I won't mind, take it personally, or stop writing if you don't, and still wish you the best in your endeavors to change the world for the better through your own words. Please feel free to make comments, or ask questions. I believe if you're going to spend time reading a work, you should at the least leave a word behind. It need not be long. "Hey, I liked this." "Hey, your teachers were wrong; don't write anything ever again." That will suffice.

I'd like to thank the founder and staff of Channillo for giving me the opportunity to tell my stories here.
