My name's Sam Burt and I am a secondary teacher of English and Economics in an East London school, blogger, and writer.
As a 'free school meals' kid who read PPE at Oxford, I entered my profession via Teach First to work in disadvantaged communities. I have been hitting my head against a whiteboard for four years and am shortly to graduate with a masters in Transformational Leadership.
My day job is trying to get kids to do what they're told; I spend the rest of my time trying to do the same with words.
Watch this space for series including fiction (short stories and poetry with a political and/or philosophical bent) and non-fiction (some essays and articles with a focus on education, politics, the arts, literature and publishing).
I am a member of Newham Writers' Workshop and have previously been published in OpenDemocracy, Culture Wars, the Oxford Left Review, and Labour List.
Always love to hear from fellow writers, so get in touch.
