“It’s an interesting conceit, attempting to predict what the human race will be generations from now.  Just imagine it for a moment, and then ask yourself if you really have what it takes to imagine it.  We’re talking about putting the populations of seven cities, because that’s all we have the resources for, inside what amounts to gigantic petri dishes.  We’re going to leave them out in the sun, and let them grow.  Each city has its own culture, and its own sets of subcultures.  Each will face its own sets of challenges.  Each will have its own subsets of possible solutions.  There’s simply no way to know what will happen inside each one.  There’s no way to know, when the lids come off, if those cities will be able to recognize the others as fel...
