Between the time that Billy left for training and Iraq, and after some discussion with Billy, I allowed my childhood friend, Tammy, to move into our home. She was getting a divorce and it had become bitter, ending with Joe kicking her out of the house and keeping the kids. Joe and I hadn't seen eye-to-eye in years, and Tammy and I had been friends since I was five, and I picked her side in the breakup. I took her in, thinking it would be good to have another adult in the house, someone to help out now that Billy would be gone, another adult to talk to in a house full of children.
