Several weeks after my return from Virginia, their commander still was not able to figure out how to get his troops home, but now they did, at least, know where they were supposed to be. Utah. So, there was that. What their commander couldn't figure out, while sitting at Ft. Eustis the transportation hub of the U.S. Army, was how to get them there.
As per all military fuckary, no troop movement can ever be simple, easy or straightforward. That, of course, would make too much sense and offend their idea of military efficiency. They couldn't just go straight to Utah, they would need to come back to their home base, get new orders, then redeploy to their new duty stations, or apparently, it just didn't count.
