After the failed attempt at grounding me, and all the other small piles of growing issues, Erick and I continued to trudge through the motions of marriage for reasons of our own. With love probably at the bottom of both of our lists.
Shortly after moving into our new house, I decided to quit my job at Transitions and start a third shift daycare. After doing the math of keeping three kids in daycare, and spending long hours away from the kids, we decided running a daycare was a smarter move than me working outside the home. My job paid decently, but not well, and when I lost the partial assistance for daycare, it quickly ate up more than half of what I brought in. In theory, I could make just as much, if not more, than I made at Transitions.
