“It’s crazy. You study so hard, you put in so much work and you
try everything you can possibly think of to get a job, but it just
doesn’t happen. I think higher education and the number of
students being accepted needs a complete overhaul. It’s an
economic concept, but surely the supply of students and the
demand of employers needs to be weighed up?”
Kate is from the United States, and as such has had a slightly
different experience in both the arena of study and finding
work. Kate studied for a Bachelor of Philosophy, intending to
graduate and go into a graduate program to get her PhD and
enter teaching at university level. The first obstacle Kate faced
was being accepted into a graduate school.
