there is always a little pain
a lot of pain
in the depths of your eyes
swimming in your smile
floundering behind every "i'm ok"
do those wounds that cause this pain
do those hurts ever get better?
do they scab over?
or do you just get used to it?
they say time heals
but how do you measure it?
in buckets?
in bruises?
in years?
and there's always a little pain
left over at the end
isn't there?
