there's a certain freedom
in being fifty
old, but not old
and not done
as if society, with all its rules
and sticky assumptions
suddenly expects me
to shed convention
invites me
to embrace eccentricity
that now whatever i do
is somehow right
outside of judgement
reputation is what
i care to make it
fifty is free
