i started to give the world comets
i felt like she needed them
and it was my responsibility
but i realized
the world has enough comets
those who fly high
and burn bright and fast
all splash and fire
and that's not me
and the world needs me
to be who i am, true
to myself and to her
i started to give the world comets
but that would've been forced and false
i'm no comet, no world shaker -
and when the comets have flashed and faded
i can still be what the world needs
my own sort of light
a warm and constant kind of light
like the coming of the dawn
