Matt looked up from his coffee cup again when Jason hadn’t said anything about the news broadcast.  Jason had a look on his face.

“What?” asked Matt, suddenly feeling older than his sixty-one years, much older.  “What, Jason?  What aren’t you saying to me?”

Jason’s poker face slipped.  When he spoke, it was in quiet and clipped sentences.  It was the kind of speech pattern someone used when they thought the less words used the less terrible the news might be to the listener.

“Satellite feeds are still down.  We missed the broadcast, but it still aired.  It was live.  It’s already gone viral, and we still have cellular signals.  Got it off the net about 15 minutes ago.  Matt –“
