Korin lunged for Duncan with his left hand, keeping the knife held blade down in his right.
Duncan jerked back to avoid the man but instead slammed his back against the tree. He darted to his left, mindful of how much give there was to the rope around his chest and that Sofia was tied to the other end.
Korin’s lunge missed shy of latching onto Duncan by the shirt collar. Snarling, the man hammered a knee down but Duncan shoved his bound arms in the way. Still, the momentum bashed Duncan back against the tree with enough force to make his head swim for a second. Sofia let out a half-muffled yelp of pain from the other side of the tree.
