Kella watched Taroy as he crossed the camp to the fire. The feeling of Taroy’s fingers against her skin had given her shivers. She would have enjoyed the feeling more if her stomach wasn’t so dead set on churning and cramping.
“You are lucky to have someone care for you so much,” the man beside her said.
Kella felt herself blush.
“Taroy is a good man,” she said quickly, focusing her attention away from Taroy. She thrilled at his words but she felt uncertain too. She hadn’t talked to Taroy about the depth of his feelings for her, and she wondered what he might say if asked.
“When my men came to kidnap you, Taroy fought to stay by your side,” the man told her. “He didn’t want to be separated from you.”
