Frank had thought that they were not too far behind the zombie. When they arrived, he realized the single creature had made fast work of the sleeping soldiers in the 19th Kentucky's camp. The campfires had been built back up, casting their light across the scene, but Frank saw only a few clusters of men in the area. Most of the soldiers looked terrified, clutching their weapons to their chests rather than trying to fire on the approaching attackers.

He saw several men who had been bitten by the zombies. Huge bloody gashes in their throats or arms pumped forth streams of crimson, as they collapsed to the ground. It was like the battle all over again. Although the Confederates had not used their teeth and hands to rend apart the Union troops, the bloodshed looked all too familiar.
