This diary was presented to me by my Anishinabe friends in the village at the ford in the Nelson River, which they refer to as Niwiin Ma'iingan. It apparently was kept by an ethnographer who had come to their village without learning Michif (what he refers to as "a bastardized form of French"), expecting instead that they would communicate with him in Ojibwe or even English.
