7 August 18--

The moon is full, and my cabin is again surrounded by howling wolves. I cannot sleep with this din, and I know not how the villagers sleep with this ruckus, but their homes are dark and quiet.

Meanwhile, I sit awake by the light of the moon streaming through my windows, looking for any signs of the wolves. But either these wolves are not truly near my house, or they are clever enough to stay out of sight of whatever window I peer through looking for them. I suspect the latter.

I am shocked by the tribesmen's disregard for the safety of their village. Though they have no pack animals or beast of burden, surely the wolves pose a threat to their stores of food and their women and children. When I return to civilization, I will be certain to tell the fur trap...
