CHAPTER 20

While Colin Owens was driving towards London to carry out his revenge attacks, Phil Hounsell, his family, and the Bath police were just waking up. Phil had been laying awake half the night thinking about Erica; then at about seven o’clock Shaun and Tracey came running in to jump on the bed and have a cuddle with their Dad. They were missing their Mum and had half a dozen questions to ask. Phil tried to answer them as diplomatically as he could; he didn’t want to frighten them, or to make light of the situation even though Owens had said that Erica would remain safe and well as long as he was undisturbed.
