Kate needed something to focus her attention on. If she kept as busy as she did in school, there would be no time to reflect on her feelings for Nathan. She entreated her grandfather to teach her about the day-to-day operations of Hollingsworth Enterprises. Inevitably, she would require the knowledge one day. Now was as good a time as any to learn. She accompanied her grandfather to meetings and had queries about every call he received about the company. Any downtime was spent studying for the bar.

When the day of her engagement party finally arrived, Kate was only interested in finding out who was who, and what role they played in her grandfather’s business.
