Clay proposed to Vanessa on the three-month anniversary of their first date.  She was delighted to accept.  Kate helped her plan the wedding and ran interference with Meredith.  After all she had been through, Nathan’s mother didn’t intimidate her anymore.

Shortly after their marriage, Clay and Vanessa revealed there was going to be another addition to the family.  Kate was excited her child was going to have a baby cousin.  The couple had purchased a home in the same suburb, and the children would grow up together. 

Nathan used the opportunity to try and persuade Kate that Julian needed a sibling.  She considered his request but wanted to wait until their son was a little older.  He deserved to have her all to himself at his young age.
