Kate wasn’t aware of the rage on Nathan’s face, because she had lowered her head in avoidance.  They both sat at the table in total silence, until she simply couldn’t take their reticence any longer.  She raised her tear-filled eyes to stare him directly in the face.  “Please say something.”

He finally replied with frustration, “I’m going to kill that son of a bitch.”

Clay wasn’t the one to blame.  She led him to believe that she didn’t want their relationship to end.  “Nathan, this is all my fault.”

“How could it be your fault?  When he called me last week, he knew something was wrong.  I can’t believe he’d take advantage of you like that.”
