Clay persuaded Kate to eat a few bites of a sandwich and take her medication.  He could not, however, convince her to rest.  She insisted on going back to the hospital in time for the next scheduled visitation.  Clay had to stand up to his mother, so Kate could spend some time alone with Nathan.  He was feeling quite pleased with himself.

Clay had just stopped to get a cup of coffee at the same time Nurse Morgan was headed to the elevator to take her lunch break.  “You’re Mr. Reed’s brother, correct?”
