Several months passed by with no new information about Ivanov. Kate voiced to Nathan her safety was no longer a concern and insisted he move back to his apartment. An unexpected visitor rang her doorbell the very next day.

She peered through a window and was distressed to discover Ivanov waiting outside. How did he find her? A quick text went out to Nathan before she gingerly opened the door. She regretted her rash decision to dismiss her protection.

“Mr. Smith, how can I help you?” She placed her left arm behind her back to hide her unsteady hand.

“May I come in?”
