The elves’ home smelled of fresh earth, flowers, and wood. The furniture in the home was made from roots that rose out of the ground to create the shapes of tables, chairs, and dressers before digging back beneath the earth. A young she-elf stood in a corner of the far wall watering a bed of herbs growing out of the floor, pretending not to have just been peeking of the window before they arrived.
“My daughter, Bree,” said Gelwyn.
Bree turned a bit too quickly and curtsied hurriedly. She had her father’s blonde hair, though it was a slightly darker shade, but her eyes were a rich brown that matched the small beauty mark at the corner of her left eye.
