I must have fallen asleep in his arms, because when a police officer came in my room, I woke up and Daddy was asleep next to me.  I elbowed him twice, and he woke up, got up from the bed and stood by me.  The policewoman, with a badge, but dressed in jeans, and a t-shirt, and matching blazer, pulled out her small notebook.

     “Hi, Clementine.  I’m Lindsey Dunmore.  I’m SVU assigned to your case.”

     She introduced herself to Daddy and vise versa.

     “I have news about your rape kit and your perp.”

     “Okay,” I replied.

     “Okay,” Daddy replied.
