After the congregation was dismissed, the old woman still stood up at the front of the church.  The pastor invited her, and the people who had brought her, to sit down on the front pew.  I didn’t try to listen to their conversation.  I just sat down where I was, about halfway back in the sanctuary, to wait until they were finished.  I wanted to meet this woman and talk to her.  She more than intrigued me, even though, now, she was a pile of tears over something.

     All of a sudden, she shouted, ran past me, and out the church front door.  I gathered my belongings and followed after her, the people she was with still sitting in front of the church talking to the pastor.  I wondered why they weren’t going after her.
