I got a text message today from a woman I haven’t heard from in months. It came in around lunchtime. She felt badly about the way she left things and wondered if I might be up for a coffee some time soon. I was interested.

     As I began to type my response, another message came in from a different woman I haven’t heard from in months. She, too, felt badly about the way she left things and wanted to know if I was up for a coffee in the next day or two.

     I was overwhelmed. I was all for rekindling an old relationship, but rekindling two relationships sounded like playing with fire to me. I decided not to respond to either woman.
