My sister’s boyfriend didn’t show up for Thanksgiving. I don’t know how he gets away with it. It seems to me that once you show up for Thanksgiving with your girlfriend, you continue to show up for Thanksgiving with your girlfriend.

     Mom was genuinely concerned about the situation and kept trying to ask questions, but my sister constantly deflected her efforts with excuses for the guy. It was annoying.

     Dad and I tried to steer the conversation in different directions, but Mom was determined to stay on course. I wondered if my sister had any regrets about the text she sent asking us not to invade AJ’s privacy during dinner.
