Being motivated and being bored are one in the same for me. Today, I was so motivated that I cleaned, actually swept and scrubbed, behind the refrigerator.

     Today, I was so bored that I cleaned, actually swept and scrubbed, behind the refrigerator.

     I found my old San Fran magnet, the only souvenir that remains from the cross-country trip I took with my friends after college.

     The three of us went west thinking California had something to offer. We were motivated. We were bored.

     It was like California never even knew we there. I think that’s why we bought the blow-up doll on our way back through Nevada.

     We named her Amber Ginger...
