After seeing the rest of the house and promising Ava I would think it over and call her tomorrow, I was finally pulling into the hospital parking lot. The three hour drive had been monotonous and filled with chain smoking and what if scenarios. As I pulled into a spot in the visitors parking I realized I hadn’t gotten one call from Nikki. While I was worried what that might mean, I had to admit I had enjoyed a quiet drive without Nikkis' hospitalization demands. Usually in the beginning of her hospital stays I would get non stop calls and voicemails alternating between cheerful apologies and/or angry demands. I fumbled to find a cigarette in the dark quiet of the truck cab to mentally prepare myself for my visit. Just then my phone buzzed with an incoming call from my back pocket....
