“Yes, I’m sure I can imagine what Nikki said. Please understand that she meant you no harm or that she deliberately lied to you. She’s not a dishonest person; she’s just sick.  Nikki is bipolar. When she goes off her medication, she can enter a state of mind known as mania. When it’s really bad, like it’s been the past few months and certainly in her interactions with you, she can become quite grandiose in her delusions.
