“Believe me, I’m not as desirable as I was,” she ad-libbed between hiccups. “You see, I also went to visit the Tin Man.”
“The Tin Man?” Beau looked genuinely confused. They were going off-script. “Why?”
“He said he wanted to give me his heart,” Swan said, her head feeling faint.
She didn’t hear her body collapsing to the floor, or her head thudding against the set’s carpeted floor. The audience gasped and screamed. The scenery blurred and sounds became muffled.
“I gave the Tin Man a defective heart!” Beau said from above, his voice dissolving into gurgles. “He didn’t have the right to love you!”
