“Not when it decimates our country’s financial and social institutions, as well as destroying Net Neutrality.” Swan kept smiling. “You allowed Verizon and Comcast to charge online lanes, Johnny! How did you think the surviving lawmakers would respond?”

Beau opened his mouth. He was supposed to protest here, but nothing came out of his mouth. He wasn’t reading the cue card. Swan decided to go to the next line before the audience realized his fumble.

“Oh don’t look so dour. Now you’re among the ranks of Americans abroad, convicted felons, and black people.” She spread her fingernails and grinned. “Welcome to their world!”
