Tess spirited down the hall. Her throat felt like someone had scoured it with sandpaper. Each breath she took was ragged and painful. Her voice had given out abnormally fast; it couldn’t have been more than 15 minutes. She had to stop running to catch her breath. She clung to an open locker. After a few breaths, she kept running. She had to get to Titus.
She rounded the corner and saw a man standing in the hall. He was dressed in a military uniform with a white cape draped over it.
The spell Titus had cast took a lot out of him, and the youngling. The creature was on the floor, struggling to stand.
