>Across the night air, a soft sound traveled. The sound drifted towards them on the wind. It grew louder, haunting the night air, transforming into a sound not unlike music, but if it was music, it was unlike anything Tess had ever heard before. The music, like the Wyrds' voices, didn't touch her ears, but her mind. She could feel it in her very being. There was nothing malevolent or cold about it, it was beautiful.

“There,” Titus whispered, pointing.

A single figure drifted into the clearing. Tess realized it actually was drifting, as it had no legs below the knees. It was a woman, or had been. She was transparent and her eyes glowed from across the clearing, like glass orbs reflecting the day’s light.

They noticed another figure, and another, and another.
