The Fensen house looked like every other house in the neighborhood. It certainly didn't appear to be the home of a killer hybrid insect-human cult. Tess had been to Jake’s house several times when she was younger. Their parents had met on occasion for parties and Tess had trick-or-treated with Jake many times.

The Fensens had come over several times after her father had died, bringing dinners and casseroles for them to eat. They had also invited them out a lot, to get their mind off the loss. 

Now, I’m here to find out if they’re killers, Tess realized. She had a very weird feeling about it. They had never been anything but kind to her, which went against everything Titus had told her about the cult.
