Titus wasn't prepared to let that happen. His uncle despised him already, and if Skriker got all of the estate’s secrets, his uncle would probably kill him.

Titus’s mind scrambled, gathering any bargaining chips he could find. He wasn't going to tell her about the vision. She wouldn't believe it. It was too convenient. She would think he was more involved.

He decided on the truth. Well, some of it.

“The person Skriker is looking for, the one who stole the book, sent me a message,” Titus said, not sure how much he should give away. The colonel raised an eyebrow.
