She shot him a glare. “Try again. My guess is, it wasn’t you it was after, but Tess.”
Titus sat quietly, not confirming the statement. He needed to deny it, but if he did it too vehemently, she would know he was lying.
“So, I was right,” she said before he had a chance to reply. “So why did you save her?”
Titus wet his lips at the ease of which she was reading him. Even Tess had a hard time reading his emotions. He didn’t understand how this emotionless woman could do it so easily.
“I didn’t do it to save her, I did it to save myself,” he stated blankly after putting the contents of his head in order.
