“So, what'd he say again?” Jenna needled for the third time since arriving at the electronics store. Titus sighed.
“He said yes,” Titus repeated, again, “but it doesn't make any sense. I'm certain he doesn't like me, why would he get me a phone?”
Jenna reached up and patted him on the head, much the same way she patted her dog. “It's okay, Titus, we're all wrong at some point, and it doesn't surprise me you were wrong about a basic human interaction.”
Tess was sure he was going to shake her hand off, but he was too lost in thought to remove it.
Her stomach turned, and she wondered if the pasta-burger hadn't been the best choice for lunch. The twinge of pain moved from her stomach to her chest.
