“Oh, and I have a friend over, we're going to grab something to read and then go to my room.”

Titus left the doorway and continued down the hall. Tess watched him grow more distant. The strain caused her eyes to water. The hallway hadn’t seemed so long yesterday. Pain traced from her eyes to the back of her head. She put her head against the doorframe, using it to hold her steady while she rubbed her eyes. The pressure felt good. She removed her hands, causing her to see negatives for an instant. She looked back down the hall....
