The papers turned out to be a list of expectations and the syllabus. Tess quit reading after she read: I will assign two hours of homework every day. This is expected to be completed by the next English class, regardless of if I collect it or not. She decided to watch Titus again.

He moved down the aisles, passing out papers in an exaggeratedly bored manner. As he passed a group of pretty girls, the light played tricks on her eyes, making it appear that his shadow was moving on its own.
