    It did not occur to him to speak or move. As the light in the pool began to fade, and the sky grew bright, the girl's form became less distinct. Airy, ethereal, until she, too, faded away.

    The tinker spent that day walking amongst the hills. His thoughts returned again and again to the young woman in the enchanted pool.
