The new day found her in a territory she seemed about to recognize but couldn’t. The air carried tinges of lemon and saffron. She inhaled deeply, with pleasure. The warm on her back as the first rays of sunlight hit her skin and the familiar fragrances provided a sense of shelter. But she was clever. Too clever to be fooled by such simple tricks. She wasn't safe. Not yet.
Ahead, an olive grove, all short compact trees, tens of them, offered a escape from the false safety of the known. She was still vulnerable. Perhaps they would not think her valuable enough to chase after her for this long or this far, but there was no way of knowing. Disappearing, hiding. That was safe. Or at least the safest she would be until reaching her people. Her land.
