In case you are new to this planet, or, like Neitzsche’s Zarathustra, you have shunned society and lived in a cave for ten years, you are well aware that to exist means to use a mobile phone. Modern society simply cannot operate without one and although I live in a small country town in rural Australia, we too, are part of modern society. We like the freedom associated with picking up a device, punching in some numbers and saying
“Kelly. I need a drink. NOW.”
Or
“MJ! I got another splinter, you need to come home immediately!” Ironically this last statement is usually met with the beeping of a hung-up phone, but still, I enjoy the freedom of being able to make that call. Or at least I used to.
