The baby shower is an embarrassing American tradition. Aussies are very aware of the need to fight against the seemingly inevitable swallowing of our culture by Uncle Sam, but some of the things we fight against are just too cool to resist; Krispy Kreme. I rest my case. 

And it’s embarrassing because allowing someone to host a baby shower for us is one of the traditions we fight against but offer a pregnant woman cake and presents and thoughts of culture preservation are suddenly drowned in a tray of good old Aussie lamingtons.

Baby showers are not for the faint hearted. Unless you are capable of stomaching copious amounts of sugar whilst knowing you are already too fat then you should stay clear. And unless you like seeing too many pictures of cherubs in one room at the same time, again, s...
