Tom drove faster than he should have down I-75. He was listening to the oldies channel on the radio. Led Zeppelin always made him drive fast. It felt good to unload and he thought he was stupid for not taking the funeral home up on their counseling services when Sarah died. He knew now what a world of difference it would have made for him and Tiffany. Sarah would have been proud, too. He felt a tinge of hope as he took the exit to Children’s Hospital. He and Tiffany would get through this and they would be all right. He just knew it.

 

On the elevator ride up to the Tiffany’s floor, he caught himself whistling and he laughed. It had been a long time since he whistled. He used to like whistling. How could he have been so ignorant? That moment of unloading had worked a miracle....
