All three doors closed in unison as her husband pushed the ignition button.  He glanced at her as he put the car into drive; a single tear rolled down his cheek. “Mommy, Daddy, did you have fun visiting with your old friends?” a small voice from the back seat asked.    

“It wasn’t that kind of get together, honey.”  Their daughter spent the weekend with the grandparents.  These kinds of “celebrations” are hard for little kids to understand or attend. They had explained to her that a lot of daddy’s friends were getting together to celebrate a cherished mutual friend and that it would only be grown ups.  It wasn’t necessarily fun.
