Chapter 12

Tuesday, May 4, 2010. Early Evening

I awakened to the feeling of someone watching me. I opened my eyes to see Paul sitting in the chair opposite the couch. At least this time I hadn’t been dreaming.

“Tired?” he asked.

I blinked, trying to force my tired brain to function. “Yeah, guess I was. I hadn’t realized.”

“Lots going on.”

Something wasn’t right here, but I couldn’t convince my brain to process it. “What time is it?”

“Just after sunset.”

Trust a vampire to tell time based on the sun. Fortunately I have a well-developed time sense, and I figured that meant it was probably a little after eight o’clock.
